London - Britain ordered the temporary withdrawal of its diplomats from Sudan yesterday in response to a decision by Khartoum three days ago to recall its ambassador from London.
"The Sudanese demand that we remove both the ambassador and his deputy has made it impossible for us to sustain a fully operational embassy," the Foreign Secretary, Mr Robin Cook, said in a statement.
Sudan recalled its senior diplomatic staff in protest at London's support for last week's US missile strikes in Sudan.
