Gardaí said today they have interviewed over 30 people in connection with a man’s death in a traffic incident in south Dublin at the weekend.
William Stafford (28) of Sandyford Road, Dublin died after being run over by a stretch limousine in the Clonard Lawn housing estate in Dundrum, Dublin at 2.45am on Sunday.
Mr Stafford was coming home from a night out when he was dragged for 20 metres under the car. Locals used car jacks to free him and he was taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin but he died from his injuries a short time afterwards.
The car, a black and white stretch Ford Scorpio, had been in the estate in recent weeks and had been driven by several local people.
Gardaí in Blackrock said today they had taken over 30 statements from witnesses and appealed for anyone else who may have been in the area at the time to contact them.
They would particularly like to speak to taxi or hackney drivers who may have been in the Clonard Estate, Clonard Lawns, Wesley Heights or Ballawley between 2.00am and 3.00am on Sunday.
