Wolves boss Dave Jones is hopeful winger Mark Kennedy will be fit to play some part in his side's promotion clash against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

The Republic of Ireland international has not played a first-team game since March 16th because of a groin injury, but Jones believes he could be ready for at Hillsborough.

Kennedy was not included in Mick McCarthy's Republic of Ireland squad to face the USA on Wednesday and will be keen to prove his fitness in the run up to the World Cup in Japan.

Jones said: "It's too early to really push him, he's had a slight tear there [in his groin] and we need to give him that opportunity to build himself back up.

"If we had tried to play him in this game it would have set him back. But we have seven days now and he's back in full training and I think it might be enough time.

"He's fine when he's running with the ball, it's just when he kicks a dead ball that there is a problem with the muscle".
