Wolves boss Dave Jones toasted overdue success in the transfer market today after landing former Aston Villa midfielder Joey Gudjonsson on a season-long loan.
Jones swooped for the 23-year-old in a deal which gives him the option of making the move permanent in May.
Gudjonsson arrived at the Wolves training ground for the first time today and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's Molineux clash with Portsmouth.
Jones was relieved to have secured the signing with the transfer deadline looming and this week's move for Brazilian Emerson falling through.
Jones said: "It took a long time to get the deal done and if it had all been smooth running he would have been here at the start of the week. "If he plays as well as he played at Aston Villa he will be OK. He's a goodpasser and he's got a hell of a shot on him."
Gudjonsson scored on his Villa debut against Middlesbrough but was sent off in the Birmingham derby in March for a two-footed lunge at Matthew Upson.
