A 55 year-old woman has appeared in a Belfast court charged in relation to a police investigation into human trafficking.
The woman appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court charged with controlling prostitution and trafficking women for sexual exploitation.
The woman was named as Geok Eng Cheung with no fixed address but is originally from Malaysia.
Police raided a house in Belfast yesterday and found three women they believe may have been working as prostitutes.
The three, who are all foreign nationals but whose country of origin has not been disclosed, have been taken into care.
The police investigation is part of Operation Pentameter II, an initiative involving all 55 police forces across the UK and Ireland and the dedicated UK Human Trafficking Centre in Sheffield.
