A woman caught bringing heroin to her boyfriend at Mountjoy Prison has been remanded on bail for sentence by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Janet Hawkins (24), of Benbulben Avenue, Drimnagh, Dublin, pleaded guilty to possessing heroin for supply at North Circular Road on December 20th, 1997. Judge Carroll Moran was told that heavy demand meant the Probation and Welfare Service could not provide a report for at least six months. He said such a delay was "most unsatisfactory" and made a "total mockery of the criminal justice system". He remanded Hawkins for sentence on December 2nd next.
