A Dublin city councillor who threw red paint over Minister for Health Mary Harney at a ceremony has been formally charged with assault.
Louise Minihan threw the paint on November 1st as Ms Harney attended an event to turn the sod for a new mental health facility in Ballyfermot in Dublin.
A Garda spokesman confirmed she had been charged with assault, damage to property, and causing a breach of the peace.
Ms Minihan was arrested at her home by three uniformed gardaí at 9.30am and was taken to Ballyfermot Garda station where she was formally charged.

She will appear in court on December 13th.
Ms Minihan was elected to the city council as a member of Sinn Féin but is now a member of socialist republican group Éirígí.
