A WOMAN charged with murdering her partner has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.
Anne Berry (41), of no fixed address, appeared before Carlow District Court yesterday charged with the murder of Anthony Riordan (37) at his home at Barrow Mills, Graiguecullen, Carlow, on June 5th, 2009.
Mr Riordan, who was originally from Coolock in Dublin, was discovered by gardaí with stab wounds to his body shortly after 2am.
Garda Matt Phylan of Carlow Garda station served the book of evidence to the court yesterday. When asked by Judge William Harnett whether she understood the charge against her, Ms Berry replied “Yes”.
Ms Berry was remanded in custody to the next session of the Central Criminal Court.
Another woman, Sally Casey (35), charged with assault causing harm to Mr Riordan and with production of an article during the course of a fight on the same date, was also sent forward for trial yesterday.
Ms Casey, with an address at Heatherhill, Graiguecullen, Carlow, was returned for trial to the next sitting of Carlow Circuit Court in July.
She was remanded on bail on her own bond of €400.
