Fire claimed the life of a Co Clare woman in her family home at Drewsboro outside the village of Scarriff on Sunday night.
The body of Suzanne Moroney (24) was found by firemen in her bedroom at the back of the house.
The fire at the Moroney home broke out just after 10.30pm on Sunday night. The bungalow is located between the villages of Scarriff and Tuamgraney. Two units of the fire brigade fought the blaze.
It is understood the alarm was raised when the victim's parents, Denis and Myra, smelt smoke. They, along with an elderly relative, managed to escape and were treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire brigade was recalled to the house shortly after 9.30am yesterday after the fire reignited in the rear of the house. It was quickly brought under control.
Yesterday, gardaí and fire personnel were examining the burnt-out house to try to establish how the fire started.
A Garda spokesman said they had not yet been able to determine the cause of the fire due to the extent of the damage. However, it is believed the cause was accidental.
The National Safety Council yesterday confirmed that fire deaths have increased by 18 per cent on the corresponding period last year.
To date this year 32 people have died in 28 separate fires compared to 27 fatalities in last year's corresponding period.
A postmortem examination was being carried out yesterday at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
