The pregnant wife of one of four Irish Travellers charged with slavery following a raid by 200 police in Bedfordshire on Sunday will appear in court next week.
Josie Connors (30) is the fifth person to be charged with offences in relation to the Greenacres Travellers’ site in Bedfordshire, which was raided by police on Sunday.
She was arrested on Sunday and yesterday charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit offence of holding people in servitude, as well as two counts of requiring people to perform forced labour, Bedfordshire Police said.
Ms Connors will appear at Luton Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 22nd, and remains on bail until then.
Four men were remanded in custody on Tuesday after appearing in court charged with enslaving four men found at the travellers’ site.
Brothers James (Jimmy) Connors (23), Tommy Connors (27), and Patrick Connors (19), appeared at Luton Magistrates Court along with brother-in-law James (Big Jim) Connors (33).
