A WOMAN was being questioned by gardaí in Waterford last night in connection with a stabbing in the city early yesterday.
The woman, who is aged 18 and is known to the gardaí, was arrested after two women, aged 18 and 19, were both found injured in John's Lane by gardaí on patrol.
Gardaí said the incident, which happened shortly before 2am yesterday as revellers celebrated Waterford's All-Ireland semi-final victory over Tipperary, is not related to an on-going Traveller feud in the city.
One of the women was stabbed in the back, while the other sustained a knife injury to her side.
Both were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital for treatment.
One woman was released yesterday and the second was kept in hospital last night for observation.
Meanwhile, gardaí in the city were last night continuing to question four men in connection with a ramming incident in the city on Saturday night.
Eyewitnesses' accounts detailed a "high-speed" chase along Johnstown resulting in a ramming incident.
A firearm was allegedly thrown into a city pub when the chase continued on foot.
The men were being held at Garda stations in Dungarvan and Tramore.
