A woman in her 40s died when she was hit by a truck in Dublin today.
A Garda spokesman said the fatal incident happened on the Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12 near Our Ladys Hospital shortly after midday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the truck was taken to St James's Hospital suffering from shock.
The road was closed while it was examined by Garda forensic collision Investigators but it later reopened.
Gardaí asked for witnesses to contact them at Sundrive Road Garda station, or to ring the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
Separately, two gardaí and a man were injured in a car crash on the outskirts of Limerick city today.
The head-on collision, involving a garda car and a van happened near the Amber filling station on the old Cork Road shortly before 6pm.
All three crash victims were taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital suffering from multiple injuries.
One of the injured is understood to have suffered serious injuires, but none are life threatening.
Three ambulances, three units of the fire service and gardaí attended the scene and motorists were being advised to take alternative routes as there were major delays in the area.
The office of the Garda Ombudsman is investigating the accident.
