The trial of a 19-year-old woman charged with murdering her brother has begun at the Central Criminal Court.
Caroline Brennan pleaded not guilty to the murder of Michael Brennan (22) at Barrack Street, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, on December 30th, 2008, when she appeared before the court this morning.
Michael Brennan was discovered with a knife wound to his upper body at 3.30am on December 30th, 2008, and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
Ms Brennan, of Love Lane, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, appeared before Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Waterford.
Ms Brennan replied “not guilty” when arraigned before the court this morning.
A jury of nine women and three men were sworn in to hear the case which Mr Justice Carney informed them might run into the week after next as he is only available to preside for two days next week.
