The body of a 37-year-old woman reported missing in Galway last Saturday has been recovered from the river Corrib.
Divers from the Galway Sub-Aqua Club assisting the search for the woman made the discovery shortly after 3pm today.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was camping with others near Menlo Castle.
She was reported missing on Sunday morning, when her clothes were discovered near the riverbank.
The alarm was raised when she failed to return to the group after saying she was going for a swim.
A Garda spokesman said no formal identification has yet been carried out, but added that the body pulled from the river is that of a woman in her late 30s or early 40s.
It is understood she had been camping in the area for some time having previously stayed at a hostel for homeless women.
The remains have been removed to University College Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
