GARDAI will today issue a photograph of Mrs Miriam O'Donoghue (42), a mother of two, who was found dead with throat injuries in her home at Ashfield Gardens, Mulhuddart, Co Dublin, on Sunday last, in an attempt to ascertain her last movements.
"We hope that publication of the picture will jog someone's memory," said Supt Denis Donegan of Cabra Garda station, who is leading the investigation and who again appealed to members of the public who might be of assistance to come forward.
He said there were no developments in the inquiry yesterday. "We have nothing concrete, and nothing has been ruled in or out at this stage."
Asked if the inquiry was a murder investigation, Supt Donegan would say only that they were treating the matter as "suspicious". He said that was all they could do until they got the final report of the post mortem, which had been carried out by Dr John Harbison, the State Pathologist.
In a preliminary report the pathologist found Mrs O'Donoghue suffered a "throat injury consistent with a blow which resulted in asphyxiation".
It is understood that Mrs O'Donoghue was last seen between 9 p.m. on Friday last - when a meal was delivered to her door and 8.30 p.m. on Sunday - when her body was discovered in the house by her husband. The two were separated but shared access to the children - a daughter aged 11 and a son of seven.
There was no sign of forced entry to her house. She had a mobile phone and gardai are anxious to hear from anyone who called her over the weekend.
Anyone with information is asked to telephone 01-8389556 or 1-800-666 111.
