A woman who pleaded guilty at Tullamore Circuit Court to stabbing two elderly women with a knife as they left church in Clara, Co Offaly, last May was sentenced to three years concurrent on each of four charges. Madeline Daly (27), c/o Union Hall, Clara, also pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis resin. Ms Rebecca Quinlan (71) received 36 stitches after being slashed across the face, and also had two tendons in her hand severed. Ms Eileen Digan (75) was also slashed across the face and required four stitches. The injures were inflicted while Daly was attempting to snatch Ms Digan's handbag.
