Woman, son escape Down pipe-bomb attack

A woman and her son (16) were uninjured last night after a pipe-bomb exploded outside their house in Co Down.

A woman and her son (16) were uninjured last night after a pipe-bomb exploded outside their house in Co Down.

The device went off at 2.30 a.m. at the house on Windmill Road in Balinahinch. The front door and windows of the house were damaged, and windows in nearby houses were broken.

A police spokeswoman said a number of people were seen running away.

In Larne, Co Antrim, a car was destroyed in a petrol bomb attack. A nearby house was damaged in the attack at 1 a.m.
