A woman denied in the Central Criminal Court yesterday that she consented to sex in a car with a man after a disco in Donegal.

The 23-year-old woman was giving evidence on the second day of the trial of a 34-year-old Offaly man who has pleaded not guilty to two charges of raping her at Corkey, Manorcunnigham, Co Donegal, early on June 1st, 1995.

In reply to Blaise O'Carroll SC, defending, she denied she had danced with and kissed the defendant at a night club in Letterkenny before going off in his car and having sex.

She claimed she had danced with the defendant's friend who agreed to give her a lift home. The defendant also got into the car. She was told the defendant was being dropped home first.

When the car stopped the defendant refused to get out. During a second stop the driver walked away.

The defendant drove her to a gateway of a house where he raped her twice, she said.

A doctor who examined the woman after the alleged rape said the findings were consistent with both consensual intercourse and forced penetration. The trial continues.
