The wife and sister-in-law of an alleged suspect in the attempted bomb attacks in London on July 21st yesterday denied failing to disclose information about the suspect.
Yeshiemebet Girma (29) and Mulumebet Girma (21) are alleged to have withheld details about Hussein Osman, the suspect in the failed Shepherd's Bush attack. Bow Street Magistrate's Court was told that Yeshiemebet was the wife of Mr Hussein, who is also known as Hamdi Isaac.
Both women spoke only to confirm their names, ages and addresses at a short hearing. Counsel acting on their behalf indicated that they will plead not guilty to charges under Section 38 of the Terrorism Act, 2000.
A Scotland Yard detective is to fly to Rome to question Mr Hussein on Tuesday. The judge handling his's extradition hearing is also expected to attend the interrogation. This will be the first time Mr Hussein faces questions from the British authorities since his arrest in Rome last week.
Meanwhile, the Bank of England yesterday released personal financial details of the July 21st suspects. The information was revealed as the bank announced that it was freezing accounts held by four suspects: Ramsi Mohammed, Yassin Omar, Hussein Osman and Mohammed Said.
A statement on the bank's website said: "The Bank of England, as agent for Her Majesty's Treasury, has today directed that any funds held for or on behalf of the individuals named must be frozen and that no funds should be made available, directly or indirectly, to any person, except under the authority of a licence."
