London - The bodies of three British telecommunications workers, murdered and decapitated earlier this month in Russia's breakaway region of Chechnya, began their journey home yesterday and may arrive in Britain today.
The Chechen authorities, who finally recovered the men's decapitated corpses last Sunday, nearly three weeks after their severed heads were left on a roadside by unknown kidnappers, were due last night to escort the bodies to the British embassy in nearby Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic, from where they are expected to be flown home today.
