RUSSIA:Workers in St Petersburg have found weapons in a house overlooking the highway that will be used by world leaders arriving for the G8 summit in Russia next month. The workers were erecting an advertising board when they found a machine gun and grenade launcher in the attic of the house.
Agents from the federal security service, given the job of ensuring the safety of the delegations from Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Japan, the United States and Britain, were looking for clues as to where the weapons came from.
Russia will be on high alert during the July 15th-17th summit in case Chechen militants, who have struck in Moscow in the past, try to disrupt it. During last year's summit in Scotland, four suicide bombers blew themselves up on the London underground system, killing 52 other people.
