Production was halted at a Co Kerry engineering plant yesterday when 275 workers refused to pass pickets placed by striking electricians.
Electricians at the Liebherr (Ireland) Ltd factory near Killarney began the action yesterday in a bid to gain negotiating rights for their union, the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU).
Production stopped when SIPTU's 275 workers refused to pass the pickets.
Mr Pat Guilfoyle, District Secretary of the TEEU, rejected suggestions that rivalry between SIPTU and the TEEU had contributed to the industrial action.
