The number of passengers passing through airports worldwide reached an all-time record of 4.4 billion in 2006, up 4.8 per cent over the year before, the global airports body ACI said today.
ACI, the Geneva-based Airports Council International, said the some 1,640 domestic and international airports operated by its members in 178 countries also processed 85.6 million tonnes of cargo last year, up 3.6 per cent on 2005.
