Football's world governing body FIFA today revealed they had struck a deal for cancellation insurance for next year's World Cup finals with America's National Indemnity Company.

Two weeks ago, French insurance company AXA scrapped their contract with FIFA in the wake of the US terrorist attacks and FIFA retaliated with legal action.

The details of the new contract, signed following negotiations yesterday, prevent the insurer from pulling out of the deal.

"I'm delighted that in just a few days FIFA has managed to seal a new contract and that we can count on a strong insurance partner in an emergency," said FIFA president Sepp Blatter in a statement.
