Failure to reach a deal at world trade talks this week would be bad for the global economy, European Trade Commissioner Mr Pascal Lamy said today.
Negotiators at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva met until late last night as they try to reach agreement on a framework trade accord by the end of the week.
"If we don't achieve an agreeement, that would send out a negative signal to the world economy, something that we can do without," Mr Lamy told members of the European Parliament in a videoconference from Geneva.
