The WTO confirmed a ruling that the EU broke trade rules with its sugar exports, dealing a new blow to the bloc's system of farm subsidies.
In a final ruling in a dispute brought by Brazil, Australia and Thailand, WTO trade judges reiterated - as expected - their preliminary verdict from early August that the 25-nation bloc had exceeded limits on the export of subsidised sugar."As expected, the ruling has not changed," said a trade source who had access to the confidential verdict.
