Xerox has bought Cork-based Irish Business Systems (IBS) in a deal worth about €21 million.

Xerox has bought Cork-based Irish Business Systems (IBS) in a deal worth about €21 million.

Managed print services provider IBS has eight offices in Ireland. It will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Xerox, and begin selling its document management products immediately.

The mosve is part of Xerox's strategy to expand its distribution to the SMB market and managed print services capability.

IBS founder Jerry Carey remain the company's lead, and the firm will keep its Cork headquarters.

"With this acquisition, Xerox will increase its presence in all parts of Ireland," said Xerox Europe's senior vice president of European Channels Group Douraid Zaghouani.

"Channel expansion continues to be a key aspect of our strategy in Europe. This is our second acquisition in Europe in the last two years."

Xerox currently employs over 700 people in Dublin, Belfast and Dundalk.
