Alex Ferguson said Dwight Yorke has a future at Manchester United despite the striker turning up late for training yesterday.
It had been reported Yorke's late arrival sparked a blazing row between him and Ferguson, fuelling speculation the striker could be following Jaap Stam out of Old Trafford.
But United director of communications Paddy Harverson dismissed such talk.
He said Ferguson had stated Yorke's future at the club and first-team chances had not been affected by the incident.
He confirmed Yorke was late but claimed this was because of a misunderstanding over what time training started.
Yorke thought yesterday's session was only a light session, which start later because almost all the first-team squad are away on international duty.
Yorke did speak with Ferguson, and Harverson claimed the former Trinidad and Tobago star agreed to be on time in the future.
"The manager has explained today that Dwight was late for training because he didn't realise it was a full training session with so many players away on international duty," said Harverson.
"The manager said that Dwight's position in the squad and his career at the club had not been affected at all by his lateness".
