The final of Macra na Feirme’s FBD Young Farmer of the Year Competition will take place this evening in the Seafield Hotel, near Gorey, Co Wexford.
Yesterday 25 semi-finalists were going through their paces in the semi-final phase and six finalists will go through to the final tomorrow.
Entrants are judged according to farm-related criteria including business initiative and innovation, levels of efficiency and enterprise quality, safety and environmental protection awareness, as well as agricultural knowledge and community involvement.
Former Department of Agriculture chief economist Tom Arnold is the chairman of the final judging panel.
