A 13-year-old Traveller, recruited by a film company as an extra for the shooting of Wild Horses at Scribblestown, Dublin, two years ago, has settled an action for damages for personal injuries against Laragh Film Productions Ltd.

Mr Ronan Maguire, counsel for Martin Joyce, of Dunsink Lane Caravan Site, Finglas, Dublin, told the Circuit Civil Court yesterday that the company had made a £6,500 settlement offer which he was recommending to the court for its approval.

He said that Martin, then aged 11, had been asked to run around a vehicle as part of a crowd scene. He had fallen and had been trodden on by a horse while at the same time he was struck by a motorcycle.

Mr Maguire said Martin had suffered bruising to his head and chest and had developed a nervousness in relation to horses since the 1997 accident.
