A youth who took a cocktail of drink and drugs before choking a 17-year-old Cork girl to death has been found guilty of murder at the Central Criminal Court.

Jonathan Kepple killed Rachel Sandyman after she slapped him and said he was a bad father. His barristers argued that Kepple suffered from undiagnosed brain damage and was not responsible for his actions.

Kepple (19), of Deptford, England, pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted the manslaughter of Ms Sandyman on February 5th, 2000. Judge Iarfhlaith O'Neill sentenced Kepple to life imprisonment and refused leave to appeal.
