The body of a young man who drowned in the River Boyne has been recovered at the Haymarket Bridge near Drogheda this morning.
The man in his twenties had fallen into the river on Saturday September 21st. Efforts to rescue him were frustrated by the strong current and the body was swept down stream.
His identity will be released this evening once relatives have been informed. His body was recovered just after 10 a.m.
He is the second young man to drown in the river in less than a week. On Monday September 23rd, Anthony Morrissey(21) from Dromiskin, fell into the river and despite being taken from the water about 15 minutes later he died.
