A 17-year-old has been charged in Boston with the murder of Ciaran Conneely, a native of Inis Meain, Co Galway, on October 10th, writes Kevin Cullen in Boston.

Mr Conneely was shot during an attempted robbery outside his home.

Police say the 36-year-old was about to enter his apartment building after celebrating at an Irish heritage festival in his Dorchester neighbourhood when he was confronted by the youth, John Graham.

Mr Conneely had been robbed just weeks earlier and police theorised he may have resisted Mr Graham’s demands or that Mr Graham panicked and shot him.
