Hundreds of young people will today reveal what action they are taking to tackle social issues affecting their communities.
Over 350 teenagers from Leinster will raise issues that concern them at the Young Social Innovators' (YSI). The event is being staged as part of YSI 2008, Ireland's largest social awareness and action programme for 15- to 18-year-olds.
Domestic violence, mental health, youth facilities and social inclusion are some of the issues that will be raised by students from Dublin, Westmeath, Kildare and Wicklow.
They are among 6,000 participants around the country in this year's programme.
The initiative was established in 2001 to help engage young people in social action in their local community. The programme culminates with the YSI Showcase at the RDS in May.
