A youth facing a litany of charges for so-called "joyriding", vandalism and dangerous driving has been released on strict bail. He has also been banned from the Ballyfermot area where he frequently got into trouble.
The Dublin Children's Court revoked bail last week after it was told the 17-year-old had persistently refused to co-operate with probation workers and had broken numerous terms of his bail. He was remanded in custody to give him "a taste of St Patrick's Institution".
The youth's solicitor, Mr Pól Ó Murchu, told Judge Thomas Fitzpatrick the youth would now honour all the commitments of his bail which included a nightly curfew, an order to remain sober and to sign on twice weekly at a Garda station.
