A large crowd is expected at a vintage rally in Carnew, Co Wicklow, next weekend when Brian Kerr's under-16 soccer champions will be showing off the European trophy won recently in Scotland.
Some of Ireland's youth squad will mingle with motoring enthusiasts in the town on Sunday, June 7th, to witness the Great Eastern Vintage Run. Steam engines, vintage cars, motorcycles and tractors will converge on Carnew at 2 p.m. from various starting points for a rally and field day.
While enjoying the magnificent vintage machines, spectators will have the opportunity to congratulate Kerr's Italian-beating stars and see the European Championship trophy.
The event, in association with the Irish Vintage Society, is in aid of the Children's Medical and Research Foundation at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin. Further details from the society at the hospital, or Mikie Wall (054) 76079, or Richie Kimmins (055) 26693 after 6 p.m.
