A 17-year-old Dublin youth is to face trial for allegedly having a semi-automatic pistol and ammunition in his home, as well as for drug-dealing offences, a court heard yesterday.
The Children's Court was told that the teenager, from Coolock, is charged with possession of a Luger pistol and four rounds of 9mm ammunition in suspicious circumstances, contrary to section 27 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, at his home on April 17th last year.
He is also charged with possession of a quantity of ecstasy tablets with intent to sell or supply to others and another charge for simple possession of cannabis and ecstasy tablets, also at his home on the same date.
The youth was 16 when he was allegedly in possession of the weapon and drugs.
Santry Garda Declan Maloney told Judge Cormac Dunne a file on the investigation had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The DPP then directed that the teenager's case should be dealt with on indictment in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Dunne remanded the teenager on bail until a date in May.
