Christian Ziege today completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur from Premiership rivals Liverpool for an undisclosed sum.
The German international wing-back (29) was unable to command a regular first team place at Liverpool following a £5.5 million sterling move from Middlesbrough last year.
"We're delighted to have a player of Christian's quality on board," Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle told Sky Sports.
"I'm looking for him to repeat the kind of form that made him one of the best wing-backs in the world.
"He can play in numerous positions, including midfield, so I'm hoping to get the kind of form out of him that will get him back in Germany's World Cup squad," said Hoddle.
"We've got players now that, whatever their attributes, can play good football."
Ziege is Tottenham's fourth signing of a busy off-season after the arrivals of Teddy Sheringham from Manchester United, Gustavo Poyet from Chelsea and Goran Bunjevcevic from Red Star Belgrade.
