In last Wednesday’s edition under the heading “Bricklaying lecturer fails over injunction”, a court report on proceedings entitled “McGrath-v-Athlone Institute of Technology”, it was reported wrongly that the Plaintiff “had carried out work on the homes of some of the professors . . .”
We confirm that that was not the case and that it was not alleged that work was carried out and no such work was carried out at the home of Prof Ciarán Ó Catháin, the president of the institute and the only employee of the institute with the title “Professor”. We apologise to Prof Ó Catháin for any distress caused to him.
In an opinion article by Dan O’Brien in yesterday’s edition, it was stated that the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore held a meeting with Irish ambassadors to EU countries on April 18th. The meeting was held on June 2nd. The author wishes to acknowledge that some of the criticisms made of the Tánaiste based on this error were unfounded.
