An editorial in the edition of September 17th, concerning the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General, said that more than € 33 million was paid by the Department of Finance to consultants for legal advice on the banking crisis. In fact, the department paid just under € 10 million for advice, the remainder was spent by the NTMA, the Central Bank and the Financial Regulator. The department’s payments were based on itemised bills.
