A column in the July 21st edition said the qualifying age for State pensions will rise to 67 in 2020. In fact the qualifying age will rise to 67 in 2021 and to 68 in 2028.
An article in yesterday’s edition, on urban planning in Galway, gave the city’s population density in hectares and mistranslated this into acres. The correct figures are as follows: density of the city in 1961 was calculated to be 90 people per hectare (36 per acre) while the current density of the much expanded urban area is estimated at 30 per hectare (12 per acre).
