Sir, - On Sky News the other day I heard Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness praise Princess Diana's work for the decommissioning and banning of landmines. Let us hope that this means Mr McGuinness understands how important it is for weapons to be decommissioned quickly and decisively in Ireland if they are not to be the scourge of the population for years to come.Sinn Fein keeps saying that it is time for leadership and courage. Martin McGuinness could demonstrate such qualities by publicly and privately encouraging the military wing of his movement to unilaterally decommission their weapons immediately. Surely this would be a way to "keep the process moving forward", as Gerry Adams keeps telling us we all have a responsibility to do. - Yours, etc.,Priory Road, Dublin 6W.
