Sir, - I see the chief executive of the Licensed Vintners' Association has warned that deregulation will lead to a fall, not in prices, but in standards within the pub industry (The Irish Times, April 25th).
I recently visited a number of hotel lounge bars and public houses in the company of overseas colleagues touring Limerick, Cork and Kerry. If the standards of the toilets we came across are set to fall further, I shall have recommend that in future they visit countries where their custom is better appreciated. - Yours, etc.,
