Sir, - The 13B bus is run as an occasional five-day-a-week service. Dublin Bus states: "too few consumers use the 13B". Yet the route serves many consumers, commuters, pupils of first-, second- and third-level colleges, families and retired people going to and coming from the city centre. Due to a poor bus service they turn to cars.
How long before traffic jams for 18 hours through Dublin 6? What of the elderly and others for whom a car is not a possibility? A commitment to public transport must mean something, but what? In an election year can politicians show their mettle and deliver?
People in under-populated and remote areas of Ireland enjoy a better service than the heavily populated areas served by the 13B. - Yours, etc.,
Rachel Murphy, Palmerston Road, Dublin 6.
