Sir, – Further to Richard Romer’s comments on the report about farmers and foresters joining forces to tackle tree-planting crisis (Letters, June 6th), where does the Government expect Ireland to source sustainable wood products in the future as they have allowed the commercial forestry sector to all but collapse? Or is it only the private sector that is being allowed to fail, not Coillte? And why is forestry never mentioned now as a key factor in helping farmers off-set carbon emissions?
