Sir, – It seems to be the case that the Government is not even considering capping the profits of electricity companies.
Surely these companies are part of the crisis in electricity prices and cannot be allowed to pass on all their costs to their customers. Private companies cannot be allowed to do this just to maintain their level of profits. At this stage, their price increases are not even part of the debate on prices; on the contrary, it is taken for granted they are independent of solving the disaster in the price of electricity in Ireland. – Yours, etc,
