Sir, – The electricity regulator proposes increasing the cost of electricity between 5pm and 7pm to discourage demand at a peak time. Could the regulator instead, or also, reduce electricity prices for the two hours before and after the peak, to give some incentive, rather than disincentive, to people to change usage patterns?
And perhaps the Government could require data centres to reduce their operations during the peak times, so workers arriving home after a day’s work can cook their dinner without being fleeced. – Yours, etc,
