Sir, – Justine McCarthy rightly calls out the excesses of western capitalism, noting the contradiction between claiming to solve the climate crisis while playing lip service to real climate action (“Our false sense of security will prove to be our ruination”, Opinion & Analysis, November 11th).
However, she failed to mention China, Russia and India, where climate action is disregarded and treated as a nuisance issue and which continue to vandalise the planet for their own selfish interests.
Greed and selfishness are not just a western capitalist phenomenon. – Yours, etc,
