Sir, – Northern Ireland is part of Nato.
Clearly, a united Ireland would require Nato membership for the whole island. Yet those who are most vociferous in pushing for an early border poll are also most vociferous in opposition to Nato.
These positions are irreconcilable, unless it is intended that Northern Ireland leaves Nato as a “price” for a united Ireland. – Yours, etc,
