A chara, – Michael McDowell is quite right to wonder if our new office developments are worthy of admiration (“Nobody is thinking about the aesthetics of our cities”, Opinion & Analysis, June 7th).
Most detract from our streetscapes and are really nothing more than glorified glasshouses. And it is the proliferation of floor to ceiling windows which are a major problem. I am sure the architects envisaged clutter-free spaces but it is up against these windows where our office workers pile their boxes, umbrellas, coats and other items. I have no desire to see such office hodgepodge on permanent display and I certainly would not do business with an entity that imposes such a mess on the general public. – Yours, etc,
